Seventh Grade

When I arrived in August, I expected a lot of homework, strict teachers, and everything was more difficult than 6th grade. I soon realized that I was right. The teachers weren’t super strict, but they had expectations.

By October, the year was already tough. At the end of the first grading period, I barely made it to one A. I also had a C or two. That was a sign that 7th grade was more difficult than 6th grade. The only classes I had an A in were not core classes.

Eventually I figured out that that school is going to gradually get harder over the year and through out my time in school. My grades are sitting at the B and C areas right now.

In 7th grade, I learned:

  • How to speak some Spanish
  • School is only going to get harder
  • I have to get used to the hard work

As the year comes to a close, my grades are dropping even more, I am trying even harder, and I am wanting it to end faster. If I had to repeat 7th grade, I couldn’t do it.

Poem

“This is just to say”

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

This poem was by William Carlos Williams. I like this poem because each line is very short and it adds suspense for what it is going to say next. I also like the subject about eating the plums in the ice box that someone was saving. This is my favorite poem.

School buddies

At Forest trail in First grade, my best friend was Lane. We became friends on the bus because of a Pokemon book. We made up games at recess and we eventually became really good friends. Throughout elementary school, he biked over to my house several times a week and we hung out. It was easy for him to bike to my house because he lived in my neighborhood.

However, around sixth grade he moved and went to a different school. We hang out sometimes, but we are still friends. He was my school buddy throughout elementary school.

Challenge Week 6

When I was little, I could not do without my stuffed dog. It was the most softest and comforting toy I had that made me comfortable. I slept with it every night. I couldn’t go one night without having it with me. I took it everywhere I went.

It had custom made dog tags and a collar with my address and owner’s name. That was probably my favorite thing about it. I liked the clinging noise that the tags made when it shook. It may have bothered other people, but it didn’t bother me.

While I had it, it made me feel better when I was upset. I couldn’t have done without it, when I was little.

Favorite Quote

You have to be able to accept failure to get better.
-LeBron James

LeBron James is a famous basketball player for the Miami Heat in the NBA.

This is my favorite quote. This quote means it will take a couple of tries to practice in order to succeed. I remember this quote when I’m playing basketball and I get better learning from failure to get better.

People learn from their mistakes and they gain skill from learning from their mistakes. You have to accept failure to get better.

Favorite Place

One of the best places to have dinner. The sizzling sound if the fajitas. This is why my favorite restaurant is Lupe Tortilla.

A reason that my favorite restaurant is Lupe Tortilla is the food. Every time my family shares half a pound of beefy fajitas. When they get to our table, they are steaming and topped off with a jalepeƱo pepper. That makes the taste spicier.

My family only goes there in occasion. Sometime we go if my sister has a concert if I win a game. We also go if it is a family members birthday. We go on cinco de mayo because they have special deals on fajitas, but the place is always packed on that day,

I have a lot of reasons why I like Lupe Tortilla. These are reasons why I like Lupe Tortilla

Studying

Up until 11 at night is really stressful. When I’m studying I can’t think at all. I could easily just pick up a paper clip and think that it is the most interesting thing in the world. The worst thing about studying is that the next day, your mind just goes blank on the test. The stress of studying causes me to fail tests.

Why I don’t think we need make up days

I hate the feeling I get on Sunday afternoons where I worry about having to do my homework. I wish we didn’t have to make up our snow day. This is why I don’t think we need make up days.

First off, I think that we should just do our make up work on the last week of school because we just watch movies on the last week. Some movies we watch aren’t even related to class. People just fall asleep during them anyways.

The other reason is that we need our breaks. The day after the snow day is when the teachers cram two or three homework assignments into one night and it is too much work. I just think that we need our time off.

I just wish we had another weekend day tomorrow. This is why I don’t think we need make up days.

Why I don’t like Pep Rallies

Sitting on the bleachers while the booming sound of the microphone hurts my ears. We could be in class right now finishing homework. Pep Rallies are the worst.

Pep rallies are a waste of time. We listen to unimportant announcements by mumbling teachers and students. We also do the wave and stomp our feet on the bleachers. The cheer leaders have us yell wildcats fight and other cheers. How much more time could we waste?

The other reason I don’t like pep rallies is because they aren’t even entertaining. The teachers and student play those games sorted by grade level like bowling or free throws. The cheer leaders do their cheers, flips and stunts while they cheer for the wildcats.

I don’t know about you, but There are many reasons why I hate pep rallies.
